My name is Joel Hollinger and I currently reside in Tulsa Oklahoma with my 3 sons, ages 4, 11, and 14.

An unexpected life tragedy a few years back caused me to become a single dad almost overnight. I quit my full time job at a leading publisher to find opportunities that would better afford myself more time to spend with my sons and less time in and commuting to the office.

I decided to create Dad Approved Toys because I was unable to find toy ideas, from a dad's perspective. Especially toy ideas curated towards boys or ideas for gifts and toys that parents and sons can enjoy together. I believe all parents, regardless of family makeup, will find tremendous value within our articles and reviews.
